Problems with Automatic Updates

Abraquest automatic updates are not working this week (02/01/2017 to 06/01/2017).

A Problem with Automatic Updates

As related in the previous post, we have a lot going on and are very excited about current developments.

However, only 3 days into the new year, 2017 has started on a sour note for us. We currently have a problem with the automatic updater. We use a third party supplier to control the licencing and updating of Abraquest (this is usually a good thing because it ensures these important parts of the system have been tested by tens of thousands of users). Unfortunately that supplier has changed their software over the christmas period. When starting Abraquest and choosing Update, it asks for a username and password which Abraquest customers do not know. The supplier has been aware of the problem for over 24 hours and so far has not been able to fix it. I am not impressed.

The workaround for customers is at present is to ignore the update messages and continue using your existing version of Abraquest, or alternatively go to the schools area of this website and install the 30 day trial software over the top of your Abraquest installation. Abraquest will automatically detect it is working on a licenced system as always and no data will be lost (although it is always recommended to do a backup of some kind before updating in case you need to revert back to the previous Abraquest for any reason).

Meanwhile I am monitoring the situation very closely and aim to have a permenant solution by 9th Jan 2017 at the latest. Either the supplier totally fixes this problem and makes amends to us somehow for this poor service, or we replace the offending parts of the software. We will be in touch in due course both on this blog and in person with existing customers if the latter course is taken because a new software licence key may be required.
